Also known as Uradana and Varshagandhi, Maland Gidda breed is native to the hilly, rainy and forested regions of Western ghats of Karnataka. This breed is known for their intelligence, natural adaptability and natural resistance to diseases. Their milk and urine is famous for being used in medicinal purposes. After a lot of search we were able to find a small collective of Gwalas (cattle breeders) in Shivamogga who breed Maland Gidda cows as its very rare to find this breed. These cows solely survive on grazing in the highlands and forests of western ghats.
The ghee is made with Bilona method on wood fire ar the Gaushala itself.
