Why premium? Each mango of our premium Dasheri trees was bagged to protect them from weather variations. This enhances size, taste and color of the fruit. Dasheri was born around a village Dasheri in Lucknow and Lucknow is known for most fascinating tales around everything they lay their eyes on. Similar is a legend on Dasheri. It is said due to a tax dispute amongst growers, a pile of mangoes was abandoned in an orchard. As they mangoes rotted, a tree sprouted which was of Dasheri. Fruit of the tree was fragrant and has excellent flavour and texture. At this time, Nawab of Lucknow happened to own the orchard and he wanted all the fruits for himself. He hired guards to protect the tree all day and night, got nets around the tree to protect fruits from the birds and got holes drilled in seeds to avoid replantation. This approx. 300-year old mother Dasheri tree is still heavily guarded and fruits are still sent to descendants of the Nawab as a present. Fun Fact: Ganga Dashera is celebrated in UP on 10th day of Jayeshta month of Hindu calendar and falls in the month of June. It is said that is the right time to start harvest of Dasheri mangoes in UP.
